Amid the chaos of the early days of the war in Ukraine, a determined Ukrainian woman sets out on an impossible journey to rescue her horse. Along the way, she joins forces with a courageous band of women. Together they face the harsh realities of war, testing their strength and resolve; leaving them to wonder if they will succeed, or if war will take everything they hold dear.

The
Story

Three days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Masha was living safely in Estonia with her husband and son when she gets a call that completely shatters her. Her horse of sixteen years, Vasya, is going to be abandoned in a stable near Kyiv as the Russian army advances.

She tries everything from afar, but very quickly she realizes something heartbreaking: if she does not go get him, no one will. So she writes her will, says goodbye to her family, and makes the impossible choice to walk back into a war zone.

What follows is a desperate race against time, a journey across a nation under siege, forged through strangers who become sisters, driven by a bond between a woman and her horse and a Ukrainian spirit that no war could break.

At its core, the film follows a woman whose understanding of courage is transformed over seventeen days.

As a woman who lived through the war in Iraq as a child, Marwah grew up surrounded by chaos and uncertainty, yet found comfort and hope in storytelling.

Marwah brings a deeply personal lens to stories of resilience, courage, and the human spirit. Her connection to 17 Days is visceral; through Masha's journey, her own definition of courage was transformed.

Her work spans narrative shorts, documentary, and branded content. Her breakout short film The Red Dress, a raw, lyrical meditation on survival, solitude, and the quiet power of self-belief, earned “Best Inspirational Film” and “Best of Fest,” screened at New York's Bedford Playhouse, and was championed by acclaimed producer Annetta Marion. Marwah is also a member of Nicholas Weinstock's group Craft Services. In addition to narrative film, she has worked as a Director of Photography for major global brands including Mindvalley, bringing a cinematic eye to commercial campaigns.

Her stories are united by a deep commitment to character, atmosphere, and emotional truth, and are personal by design: shaped by her experiences with war, immigration, and displacement.
